10 years of Cumulus!

☁️ This year, Cumulus turns 10 ☁️
The last two years were difficult for everyone. A lot changed in our lives and in our lifestyles. At Cumulus, after almost 10 years, Françoise decided it was time to take a step back, focus on other projects, and I took over in January 2022, after working for the brand these last 4 years.

For this new year, and those big changes, I wanted to bring some happiness into your closet. That is why I opted for joyful colours to add to our range.

At your request, we brought the Cherry back, a dark raspberry pink. This color was very popular a few years ago, so we listened to you and are offering it again! I love its elegant shade, I find it timeless and iconic in a most fun way.

While traveling to Marrakesh to meet with our producers, I visited the Jardin Majorelle and was inspired by the beautiful, rich blues those gardens are famous for. It was originally the home of an architect, but was later bought by Yves Saint-Laurent and his partner, Pierre Bergé. I brought back a colour sample, and send it to Lamintess, our fabric producers, for a test sample. Sometimes the colours will look different depending on the dye of the fabric.  They sent back a gorgeous vibrant hue, the perfect shade of Royal Blue.
The Ocean Blue is close to my heart. I have always loved this blue/green colour, and wanted to find the perfect shade to include in our Cumulus range. I was helping my grand-mother store some old clothes away, and we stumbled upon this 80s puffy jacket of hers. I listened to her stories about all the places she wore this to, and was amazed yet again at all the memories that people link to special items in their closets. That is what I wish for our clients; I like to imagine all the stories and adventures they will have with our products. The puffy jacket was too big for her now, but she helped me find the perfect shade of Ocean Blue.
Those three colours are available in the Classic, the Capetown and the Bise.
While consulting Lamintess, I noticed a light blue on their color chart. It made me think of clear skies and beautiful summer days. Its lightness and brightness made for a great shade to combat grey weather. I asked how much they had in stock, and decided to make Classics out of them. I thought it might be too much for our Capetown and Bises, but who knows, maybe next year!
The Mistral has been named midnight blue by Francoise, and I always though it was a great name, fitting that colour perfectly. I wanted to add more options to that range, so I set about finding the shades i though might work best to compliment the blue. I found a vibrant red, reminiscent of those summer sunsets I adore. I knew I had to have it! I love a good red shade, it makes any woman look more confident. A lady in red.
I also wanted to try a lighter colour, something like an early morning sky. Lamintess had this off white, warm beige fabric in a small quantity in their inventory, and I though it would make for the perfect web exclusive. I only had five Sunrise Gray Mistrals made, to try out the colour, so if you love it, don’t wait too long!
That's how all our new colours came to be. I hope you liked reading about our process, and that you will love these new colours as much as I do.

Kindest regards,

Aurélie
