How Cumulus is made
Lamintess & Achile Valera
Suppliers
We work with different small businesses to supply all the components of our raincoats.
We source our fabrics from Italy, at Lamintess. They specialise in technical and performing fabrics, meaning most of their range is waterrepellent or waterproof.
Founded in 1965, their expertise and wide range is what attracted us to them. With only a few words about our concept and needs, they were able to suggest the perfect fabrics for our brand.
They are also developping new and innovative techniques to create recycled fabrics, which we will soon be using.
Our second biggest supplier is Achile Valera Lissoni. Founded in 1927 in Italy, they specialise in high quality ribbons and gros-grains. At Cumulus, we use those ribbons as handles for our pouches, and as finishing touches to bring a pop of color to our raincoat.
For the rest of our components, we source them from various shops in Brussels. Our zippers and size labels come from Assaban, our buttons from Leduc, our paper Cumulus labels from EtikPrint,...
We love working with local suppliers, and we love to handpick every detail of our raincoats!
Rafice
tailoring and production
Rafice is our garment workshop in Campina, Romania. We have been working with them for years, because we appreciate their work ethic and dedication to delivering high quality, well made products. They know every Cumulus product by heart, and they know how to optimize the process to avoid waste as much as possible. The small scraps of fabrics left over after cutting the patterns are used to calibrate the sewing machines, and the scraps of ribbons are used as finishing touches on the raincoats.
Mr Parvan and his team, that feels more like a family, are kind and highly competent, and after all these years, we trust them fully and blindly. We love also visiting them, they always make us feel so welcome!
We plan and produce once a year, to avoid the environment impact of repetitve shipping.
